What We Believe

Declaration of Principles
Written by Ernest Holmes, originally titled “What I Believe.” It is also known as our Declaration of Principles.
WE BELIEVE in God, the Living Spirit Almighty, one indestructible, absolute, and self-existent Cause. This One manifests Itself in and through all creation but is not absorbed by Its creation. The manifest universe is the body of God; it is the logical and necessary outcome of the infinite self-knowingness of God.
WE BELIEVE in the incarnation of the Spirit in all and that we are an incarnations of the One Spirit.
WE BELIEVE in the eternality, the immortality, and the continuity of the individual soul, forever and ever-expanding.
WE BELIEVE that the Kingdom of Heaven is within us and that we experience this Kingdom to the degree that we become conscious of it.
WE BELIEVE the ultimate goal of life to be a complete emancipation from all discord of every nature and that this goal is sure to be attained by all.
WE BELIEVE in the unity of all life, and that the highest God and the innermost God is one God.
WE BELIEVE that God is personal to all who feel this indwelling presence.
WE BELIEVE in the direct revelation of Truth through our intuitive and spiritual nature, and that we may become a revealer of Truth as we live in close contact with the indwelling God.
WE BELIEVE that the Universal Spirit, which is God, operates through a Universal Mind, which is the Law of God; we are surrounded by this Creative Mind, which receives the direct impress of our thought and acts upon it.
WE BELIEVE in the healing of the sick through the power of this Mind.
WE BELIEVE in the eternal goodness, the eternal loving-kindness, and the eternal givingness of life to all.
WE BELIEVE in our own soul, our own spirit, and our own destiny, for we understand that the life of all, is God

Our philosophy at Santa Fe CSL believes in the power we have to co-create our lives with the Divine. We are committed to expanding the awareness that we are all One.
We are part of an international movement called Science of Mind, which embraces a spiritual philosophy for the modern world. It is based on the Truth that arises in every culture in the form of science, philosophy, and religion. We view religion as a source of wisdom for revealing this Truth about the seemingly unknown forces that shape our universe.
Science of Mind is a philosophy founded by Rev. Dr. Ernest Holmes, who, after studying many of the great religions of the world, realized that there were rooted in the same unifying themes of commonality. It was established in 1927 and is a spiritual, philosophical, and metaphysical religious movement within the New Thought movement.

What is the Science of Mind?
The Science of Mind is not a religion but a philosophy and a technique, and though it has no rules or dogma, it does include a series of principles that assist in one’s life journey. It encourages the individual to develop a personal relationship with the Divine and understand that the relationship is reciprocal. The more intimate our connection with God, the greater will be Its influence in and as us.
This is accomplished by studying the philosophy and the practice of affirmative prayer, also called Spiritual Mind Treatment. The former explains the creative presence of the Universe in the individual’s thinking and feeling. The latter encourages the practice of this creative process using a loving Law that is always willing to respond to our highest good. We embrace the Oneness of the Universe through the attraction of Love within us.
